Community Response Team (NZ)

who we are

The Community Response Team (NZ) supports emergency preparedness in the Wairoa catchment of the Franklin District.

The CRT (NZ) will enable, empower and support individuals and communities to take ownership of their own emergency preparedness and increase the resilience of each community to hazard impacts. This will reduce the reliance on first responder agencies and Auckland Emergency Management.

We are a non-profit organisation and operate solely on grants, funding and sponsorship.

Our Purpose

The aims of the organisation are to:

  • Maintain a team of volunteers able to respond to disasters and emergencies
  • Support those volunteers to achieve NZQA qualifications in emergency response
  • Work with Auckland Emergency Management (AEM) to provision a Community Lead Centre in the event of a disaster or emergency
  • Support the community and emergency services by providing food, shelter, medicine or other necessities for life
